Karen Atkinson, Deputy Chief Operating Officer for SMEC’s ASEAN business, has been formally appointed to SMEC’s global Executive Committee.

SMEC has been engaged by Green Light Contractors (GLC), the Australian EPC arm of  Elecnor, to deliver technical support, concept and detailed engineering design works on Stage 1 of the New England Solar Farm in New South Wales.

We are pleased to announce that Karen Atkinson, Deputy Chief Operating Officer for South East Asia, has been elected to the board of the International Hydropower Association (IHA) in the East Asia and Pacific region.

In a country like South Africa where it is forecast that there will be a water supply deficit of 17% by 2030, robust water demand management is key.

Access to clean water is not a given in many parts of the world. In Semarang, the capital of Central Java in Indonesia, only 62% of households had access to safe drinking water.

Encouraging the new generation of female engineers and scientists is at the core of the “Girls in Science” program, which was launched in Queensland in January 2018 by SMEC’s Holly Roberts-Simmonds, Environmental Scientist, Catherine Das Gupta, Rail Manager, and James Manning, Power & Energy Manager.

SMEC’s Gold Coast team is thrilled to have received an Excellence Award at the Queensland Branch Excellence in Concrete Awards 2021 for the West Chevron Island Bridge Remedial Works that our team recently completed for the City of Gold Coast.

SMEC has been engaged by Rwanda Agriculture and Animal Resources Board to supervise construction of the Gabiro Agri-Business Hub project; a joint venture between the Government of Rwanda and the international irrigation equipment manufacturing company, Netafim.
