SMEC in Samoa
SMEC has operated in Samoa since 1972. SMEC’s first project in Samoa was the AusAID funded Road Maintenance Training Project. Since then, SMEC has worked on a range of projects throughout Samoa, including: a technical assistance program to the Samoan Customs Department; technical assistance on the Afulilo Environmental Enhancement Project; and design and construction of a quarantine operations centre.
More recently, SMEC, in association with Meredith Sam Manuel Ltd, has been awarded a contract by the Land Transport Authority of Samoa to provide surveys, investigations, design and documentation for the 20 km Central Cross Island Road Upgrade – Enhanced Road Access Project on Upolu Island. SMEC has also been engaged by the Land Transportation Authority of Samoa to undertake a vulnerability assessment of the Samoa Road Network, as part of the Enhancing Climate Resilience of the West Coast Road Project (Component 2).
