SMEC in Tanzania
SMEC has operated in Tanzania since 1974, and established a permanent office in Dar es Salaam in 2001. SMEC’s first project in Tanzania was the was the Singida Region Water Supply and Groundwater Development Project. Since then, SMEC has worked on a variety of projects including: providing consultancy services for the 400 kV Chalinze-Dodoma Transmission Line; detailed engineering design on the 310 km Kidahwe-Kasulu-Kibondo-Nyakanazi Road Upgrade; and technical advisory services for Dar es Salaam Water and Sewage Authority.
More recently, SMEC has been engaged to prepare preliminary designs and studies for investment in sub-projects as part of the Tanzania Strategic Cities Project; and design review and construction supervision for an integrated transport program to improve public transport services in Dar es Salaam.
