SMEC in Sierra Leone
SMEC has operated in Sierra Leone since 2012 and opened an office in Freetown in 2013. In Sierra Leone, SMEC is focused on the Water sector, particularly water supply. SMEC is currently providing a variety of technical assistance to the Sierra Leone Water Company to improve water supply and public sanitation services in the towns of Bo, Kenema and Makeni.
In line with the Millennium Development Goals, the Government of Sierra Leone is improving sustainable water supply and sanitation to ensure poverty reduction and sustainable economic growth. This project was established to provide improved access to adequate, safe and reliable water supply and public sanitation services for the towns of Bo, Kenema and Makeni. SMEC is providing technical assistance including: review of designs and preparation of tender documents; tendering; develop and implement project implementation plan; procurement and contracts management; and environmental and social management.
SMEC is also looking to expand into the areas of Transport, Power, Hydropower and Dams, Urban Planning and Environment in Sierra Leone.
