Kigali
SMEC and Surbana Jurong recently joined the inaugural Africa’s New Cities Summit held November 16th – 18th, in Kigali, Rwanda.

Surbana Jurong was also co-sponsor of the event which brought together industry experts to consider the challenges of rapid urbanisation across the African continent.

 

Hong Kian Lim, Surbana Jurong Group, CEO – North Asia joined a distinguished panel discussion titled ‘New Cities: Aligning Government and the Private Sector Towards National Development.’ His insights underscored Surbana Jurong and SMEC’s commitment to driving positive change and sustainable development through strategic collaboration in urban development. Surbana Jurong and SMEC were acknowledged several times during the summit in reference to Enyimba Economic City, Nigeria and Kigali Innovation City, Rwanda.

 

Another highlight of the summit was the signing of an MOU between Africa123, Chartered Cities Institute and Surbana Jurong. The MOU will see the entities collaborate in harnessing Africa’s rapid urbanisation to enable thriving new sustainable cities that create jobs, foster investment, and promote equitable development for all.
