Established in 2003, the Mongolian Quilting Centre (MQC) aims to alleviate poverty and improve the social and economic situation in urban and rural areas of Mongolia.

The MQC empowers unemployed and unskilled people (particularly women) by teaching them patchwork and quilting. This ensures they become self-sufficient and are able to generate their own income. The SMEC Foundation provided A$2,500 for the purchase of a photocopier, printer and workbenches.
