Integrated transport interchange solutions for freight and passenger facilities

SMEC’s combination of Transport Planners, Port, Road and Rail engineers as well as Planning and Advisory teams offer extensive knowledge for intermodal freight networks and passenger precincts. We work with our partners to develop innovative, performance-based solutions.

Our closely knit teams evaluate the existing interactions between transport modes, individual’s travel choices, and to project future effects and diverse needs of the transport network.

Our expertise

SMEC has delivered intermodal facilities for passenger and freight facilities.  We understand the needs of asset operators and partner with stakeholders to deliver end to minimise interface risks and maximise safety.

 

In ANZ SMEC has undertaken intermodal projects throughout the eastern seaboard. From port-rail shuttle facilities to port redevelopments and intermodal terminals. Recently, the SMEC team was Principal Engineer for the development of the Beveridge Intermodal Precinct VIC to service the state’s growing freight and logistics sector.

 

SMEC is also an ongoing Technical Advisor for the Australian Rail Track Corporations Inland Rail project which involves a high degree of intermodal planning, technical design, and environment related services.
