SMEC in Mongolia
SMEC has operated in Mongolia since 1998, and established a permanent office in Ulaanbattar in 2010.
SMEC’s first project in Mongolia was a health sector improvement project, whereby SMEC assisted the Mongolian Ministry of Health and Social Welfare in restructuring the nation’s health sector.
Since then, SMEC has been involved in a number of projects in Mongolia including: environmental and impact assessment studies on the Baruun Naran Coal Mine project; the detailed engineering design on the Oyu Tologi Raw Water Pipeline Project; a feasibility study on the UHG Coal Haul Road Project; and Preparation and Technical Assistance (PPTA) for the Tuul River Basin Improvement Project.
