SMEC has operated in Hong Kong since 1994 and we are now a member of the Singapore-based Surbana Jurong Group, which provides a talent pool of 16,000+ people working across a network of more than 120+ offices in 40+ countries across the globe. Together with sister companies Robert Bird Group and B+H Architects in Hong Kong and in Macau, SMEC provides a full spectrum of engineering services covering engineering designs, BD submissions, project management and site supervision in civil infrastructure and private sector, geotechnics and tunnelling, roads and structures, slope engineering, ground treatment, reclamation, site formation, foundation design, natural terrain hazards assessment, instrumentation and monitoring, and temporary support design as well as environmental and sustainability services, including environmental impact assessment and social due diligence assessment, waste and wastewater facility project management, ESG, green finance project certification, net-zero strategy, green building certification, life cycle assessment, climate risk assessment, and corporate sustainability design and reporting.

We are also one of the leading firms in Hong Kong acting as Independent Checking Engineer (ICE) for a wide variety of civil infrastructural projects. Major projects that SMEC has worked on include Central Kowloon Route, Shatin Cavern, MTR’s Express Rail Link, Sha Tin to Central Link, West Island Line and South Island Line; the Liantang/Heung Yuen Wai Boundary Control Point; the Hong Kong – Zhuhai – Macau Bridge Hong Kong Link Roads; reclamation works for the HKIA Third Runway Project and other airport-related buildings/infrastructure; and the Integrated Waste Management Facilities at Shek Kwu Chau.
