Seqwater’s North Pine Dam Improvement Project has reached a major milestone, appointing SMEC to provide detailed design services for the recently announced North Pine Dam Staged Strengthening project.

SMEC, in partnership with HSI Berbagi (HSIB), has completed a significant Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project to support earthquake victims in West Pasaman, Indonesia. The initiative, which began after the February 2022 earthquake, focused on constructing sanitation and toilet facilities and providing essential learning tools for Public Elementary School 26 (SDN 26) in Talamau, West Pasaman. This project continues SMEC’s 2022 efforts, which included donating sanitary packages and other basic necessities.

In a bid to bolster environmental sustainability and combat climate change, SMEC recently spearheaded a tree planting and clean-up activity at the Laguna-Quezon Land Grant in Siniloan, Laguna, a vital area for biodiversity conservation and environmental protection in the Philippines. The initiative, held on 2 June 2024, marked SMEC’s commitment to corporate social responsibility and environmental stewardship, planting trees as a legacy for generations to come.

In a significant boost to the educational resources for underprivileged children, SMEC has donated one air conditioning unit and six computers to Young Focus, a non-profit organisation in the Philippines dedicated to alleviating poverty through education. The donation ceremony was held at the SMEC office in Manila, with key representatives from both organisations in attendance.

The SMEC team in Tanzania was recently selected to provide consultancy services across detailed design, tender assistance and construction supervision for the Arusha–Holili Road Improvement Project.
