Aiming to develop the nation as a regional and logistics hub, the Government of Georgia are progressing upgrades to essential transport links including the East West Highway (EWH).

For the past two years, SMEC’s specialists in ecology and urban development have been collaborating with the Victorian Department of Transport to guide future planning for two arterial roads east of Bendigo.

SMEC is committed to building an inclusive culture and supporting greater gender balance in our global workforce. With a focus on actively promoting the development of female leadership, we have partnered with Cultivate, a research-based sponsorship program in Australia, to connect six emerging female leaders with six members of the senior leadership team.

SMEC is proud to continue our partnership with Fotowatio Renewable Venture (FRV) in delivering Owner’s Engineering services on the Winton Solar Farm, located near Benalla in Victoria. This is the third project that SMEC will partner with FRV to deliver as Owner’s Engineer, having contributed to delivering 253 Megawatts of FRV’s total 429-megawatt portfolio. Once completed, the Winton Solar Farm will provide enough energy to supply around 50,000 homes and offset around 150,000 tonnes of CO2.

We are pleased to share our tenth annual Sustainability Report, which outlines our progress towards our sustainability objectives and the environmental outcomes we influence through our projects and services. This report covers the reporting period of 1 January to 31 December 2019.

SMEC is pleased to share Innovate, the second phase of our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), which formalises our commitment to implement and measure practical actions that create opportunities for, and build respectful relationships with, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Partnerships are at the core of not just our projects but our community programs as well. We are fortunate to have established long-standing relationships with some outstanding charitable organisations in many of the 40+ countries where SMEC operates.

2019 was another monumental year for SMEC, as we completed key projects and secured new assignments, delivered impactful community initiatives and won major awards.

SMEC and EMM Consulting have been appointed by WaterNSW to support the delivery of the Dungowan and Mole River Dam projects. Both projects have been fast-tracked as critical state significant infrastructure to improve water security and flood resilience, and will be led and delivered by WaterNSW.
