The SMEC Foundation is working with Action on Poverty on the ‘Solar Power for Farmer Group Education Center and Production House Project’ to integrate solar power systems into the community’s infrastructure.
By harnessing solar energy, the project will provide a reliable, clean energy source, promoting sustainable agricultural practices and community education on environmental conservation. This project will also work to enhance environmental awareness and education on climate change, improve agricultural productivity, and increase gender inclusivity in farming.
Several milestones have been achieved to date, including formal government approval, ensuring compliance with local regulations. The Ketan Mas Farmer Group has also been actively engaged in discussions, fostering community involvement.
The foundation of the Farmer Group Centre (FGC) has been completed using ‘umpak’ techniques, which is a traditional Indonesian construction method that involves using stone or wooden blocks as the foundation for structures. Wooden frame preparation also finished in January 2025.
