Sukkur – Multan Motorway
The 392 km Sukkur to Multan Motorway is a critical element of the Peshawar to Karachi Motorway Route. A lifeline for Pakistan’s economy, it is a high speed (120 km/h), controlled access, six-lane modern motorway that forms part of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor. The motorway was opened to traffic in November 2019 and made operational by March 2020.

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Tunnel, Bangladesh
The Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Tunnel (or Karnaphuli Tunnel) is a 3.4 km long, twin underwater road tunnel in the port city of Chattogram, Bangladesh. It is the first under-river road tunnel in South Asia. The tunnel has a 10.6 m internal diameter and has a minimal clearance to the Karnaphuli Riverbed of 31m. It was constructed using the slurry shield tunnelling method due to the sandy, silty soils in the region.

Yarranlea Solar Farm
Until recently structural complexities and limitations in the traditional data capture methodologies hindered accessing required information on the Wharf of Brisbane. Consequently, SMEC’s Port and Surveyors’ team integrated data and advanced survey techniques to provide the Port of Brisbane with greater survey coverage of the wharf, which allows assets to be mapped out in a more effective way.

Construction of Freeway TR9/1 Windhoek – Hosea Kutako International Airport
VKE, part of the SMEC group, was appointed in 2011 to carry out the feasibility study, and subsequently, engineering design and contract administration for the upgrade to dual-carriageway freeway of Trunk Road (TR)9/1 between Windhoek and the Hosea Kutako International Airport.

Construction of a Freeway between Walvis Bay and Swakopmund
The upgrading of the route between the port city of Walvis Bay and Swakopmund has been considered since at least the late 1990s when a feasibility study for the upgrade of the coastal road, TR2/1, was commissioned. The design by SMEC includes six interchanges of various geometric complexity and seven prestressed interchange bridges.

Georgia Transport Connectivity Project
The Georgia Transport Connectivity Project, financed by the EU and its Bank the EIB, will substantially enhance the transport safety and country’s economic growth with vital transport and trade links. Through targeted interventions on the extended Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) in Georgia, the project aims to substantially enhance local mobility as well as global connectivity to Europe.
