Brisbane Metro will provide the City of Brisbane with an all-electric, high-frequency, high-capacity, turn-up-and-go public transport system which is designed to reduce congestion and cater to the increased demand for more efficient transport options.
SMEC’s PV role will comprise the design and construction verification, review and certification of infrastructure works including:
- Upgraded Cultural Centre surface station
- Public realm improvements in the Queensland Cultural Centre, and neighbouring Melbourne Street and Grey Street
- Conversion of Victoria Bridge into a ‘green bridge’, providing prioritised public and active (cycle/pedestrian) transport pathways
- New Adelaide Street tunnel and upgraded streetscape in line with the Adelaide Street vision, transforming this iconic city street to a walkable, tree-lined transit boulevard
- Improved pedestrian and cycling connections
