SMEC is celebrating its digital excellence as the Overall Winner of the 12d Innovation Awards held during the 12d Tech Forum in Brisbane, Australia.

Our digital engineering experts, Allan Walker and Alexander Badaoui took home the biggest honour of the night for their collaborative work with our joint venture partner, Arup on the Sydney Metro – Western Sydney Airport – Stations, Systems, Trains, Operations, and Maintenance (SSTOM).

Allan and Alex led the team to develop a fully customised 12d / 12d synergy solution setup ensuring continuity across all SSTOM 12d projects. The comprehensive customisation package optimised project workflows and management of information, reduced design and draft times, and improved consistency and collaboration across disciplines and data environments. It enhanced efficiency and compliance throughout the SSTOM project benefiting the project team and client in delivery.

SMEC was also recognised and received:

  • Highly Commended for BIM Macro Output on the North East Link project
  • Runner-up for Barrier Snippets to the next level on the North East Link project.

Our digital engineering experts, Joshua Allison and Michael Bozikis, were also at the event presenting the innovative solutions to design and modelling challenges they encountered on the North East Link project, utilising customised 12d Model and Synergy platforms.

The North East Link project is the largest investment in Melbourne’s northeast – changing the way people move around Melbourne and connecting the Eastern Freeway to the new 6.5km North East Link tunnels from Bulleen to Watsonia.
