In 2011, the Margaret Cribb Childcare Centre was damaged beyond repair by the Queensland floods.

This affected more than 100 people including babies, children, parents and employees. The SMEC Foundation donated A$32,000 to the Centre’s two critical functions: A$15,000 to the Lifelong Learning Centre for the purchase of books and storage equipment; and A$17,000 to the Information Technology Centre for the purchase of computer equipment.
