Kampuchea House, the only orphanage in Cambodia’s Sotnikum district, cares for 2,800 children.

Child trafficking is a major problem in Cambodia with many children transported across the nation’s borders to work as prostitutes, beggars or lowly paid workers in factories in neighbouring countries. Kampuchea House aims to provide a safe and secure family environment and education in a traditional Cambodian setting. The SMEC Foundation donated AU$5,000 to construct a security fence to ensure the children’s safety and to monitor access to the centre.
