The Victorian Bushfire Reconstruction and Recovery Authority (VBRRA) made a request to the SMEC Foundation to fund a feasibility study for a permanent water supply to Dederang, a small community in northeast Victoria.

The SMEC Foundation utilised SMEC’s in-house water engineering resources and donated AU$9,800 to fund the feasibility study. The study was conducted by SMEC’s Victorian Water Group, which drafted a proposal addressing community objectives and innovative approaches to the water supply scheme.
